Outline and working thesis essay 4



Working Thesis:  In order for homeless children to succeed in their education, the government needs to induce the budget for homeless resources, including towards the McKinney-Vento Act, the Education Board should collaborate to come up with extra learning materials, and homeless shelters should include an organization that focuses on the children and their emotional needs, and have a quiet space to do their homework.

Outline:  
Introduction:
_Begin with a story to show pathos towards homeless children
_Give some statistics towards the urgency of the problem
_state some solutions that have already been put in place (The McKinney-Vento Act)

First section What can the United States Government Do?
_inducing the budgets
_start with the homeless situation
_add more opportunities for job training/schooling
_Add grants so homeless shelters can include transitional housing
_offer more low income housing for those who have been homeless
Second section All Education Boards Collaborating into one
_Coming together to add an education packet for every grade that homeless children can take with them so they won’t get behind
_Offering a once a week Hot Meals for Learning, an after school program for homeless children
_Offer better communication between the parents and teachers
_Offer counseling between the children and parents with the school counselor
_have a snack for the children to bring home everyday
_group counseling amongst other homeless families so the parents feel connected with others
Section three The Shelters should do more than offer a shelter
_include an area for all children to sit quietly and do their homework, which has computers for research
_Have an organization that has volunteers to get the children involved in extra activities
_offer transportation to job interviews or work/school for the parents
_offer the parents some counseling so they can focus on their children
Conclusion
Give some more statistics to tie everything together.
_If the Government, Education Boards, and homeless shelters work together, this plan will be effective in protecting each homeless student from a confined future.
